It was a truly special day for UFC light heavyweight contender Alexander Gustafsson.
Alexander Gustafsson turned in a great performance in the main event of UFC Fight Night in Stockholm, Sweden, knocking out fellow light heavyweight contender Glover Teixeira in the final round with a trio of uppercuts and the fight-ending right hand.
Gustafsson was up 40-35, 40-35, and 40-34 at the time of the stoppage, so he earned himself some extra style points with that terrific finishing sequence.
At the end of his post-fight interview, Gustafsson asked for his girlfriend, Moa Antonia Johansson, to enter the cage. He then said the following:
“I love you and thanks for having a kid, a baby. I love you with all my heart, and will you marry me?”
Johansson said yes, and the crowd cheered for the couple as they embraced.
Gustafsson’s Sunday couldn’t have gone any better; emphatically win the main event in front of your home fans, your girlfriend says yes to your marriage proposal, then you pick up a $50,000 bonus for Fight of the Night honors.
This is the second time this month a UFC fighter has popped the big question inside the Octagon. Strawweight title challenger Jessica Andrade proposed to her partner after her UFC 211 loss to Joanna Jedrzejczyk, and the response was also a yes.
