Reigning Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s flyweight champion, Valentina Shevchenko, will make her next title defense against No. 3-ranked contender, Liz Carmouche, at the upcoming UFC Fight Night 156 mixed martial arts (MMA) event on Sat., Aug. 10, 2019 inside Antel Arena in Montevideo, Uruguay.
The event now has an official poster, conveniently embedded above, complete with some blue and white stripes to represent the nation’s flag, since neither Shevchenko nor Carmouche are from Uruguay.
Outside of her decision losses to women’s bantamweight champion, Amanda Nunes, at 135 pounds, Shevchenko’s only other professional defeat came to Carmouche. No question “Bullet” (17-3) will be eager to avenge that controversial loss.
Carmouche (13-6) was previously scheduled to face Roxanne Modafferi at UFC on ESPN 4 this weekend in San Antonio; however, the promotion needed an emergency headliner and sent “The Happy Warrior” into a rematch against Jennifer Maia instead.
