The UFC’s #2 ranked 170-pounder, Colby Covington, just stopped the former welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley, with a fifth round TKO via injury in the UFC Vegas 11 main event. This fight was all Colby all the time. He out-struck Woodley in open space, controlled him in the clinch, and also got the takedown and did damage with ground and pound. The finish came in the fifth round when Woodley hurt a rib after attempting a guillotine, prompting him to verbally tap. Injury or not, Colby Covington dominated Tyron Woodley and seems to be back in full effect.
Check out Tim Burke’s play-by-play of Colby Covington’s fifth-round finish of Tyron Woodley:
Body kick from Covington. Leg kick. Woodley presses but can’t land anything. Slapping leg kick from Covington. He jumps in on Woodley’s legs. Woodley defends for now. Covington tries to scoop him up but Woodley uses a guillotine to hold on. Covington gets him down anyway. Woodley screams in pain out of nowhere and taps. That was a strange ending.
