Uriah Hall stopped a game Anderson Silva with strikes in the fourth round of the UFC Vegas 12 main event.
The UFC Vegas 12 main event was where the promotion’s #10 ranked middleweight, Uriah Hall, defeated Anderson “The Spider” Silva by TKO in the fourth-round. The fight was competitive throughout, but Hall found his stride late, dropping Silva with a counter punch and finishing him off with ground strikes. After the fight, Hall dropped down and cried while he told Silva how sorry he was, and The Spider embraced him in an incredible moment between two warriors. Hall has now won three-fights in a row, and he continues along in the rankings. At 45-years-old and with a UFC record of 17-7-1, Silva made it unclear whether or not this was his final fight.
A ton of feeling out went on to start the bout, with both men showing a lot of respect. They would take turn throwing solo strikes, but it wasn’t until the around the midpoint of the round that things started to pick up. Silva began to land his punches, being aggressive and going at Hall. Things calmed down a bit towards the end of the round.
The second round started out with a lot of feints and measuring. Silva began to kick at the legs at Hall before the referee called timeout to cut some tape off of the glove of Hall. Silva went right back to going at his opponent with combos, and Hall looked a bit frozen.
The third act began with a lot more measuring and feinting as the chess match continued. Hall was popping his jab out there with Silva looking for more unorthodox techniques. They exchanged spinning back kicks at one point, with both missing. A punch from Silva caused an issue to the eye of Hall, and the referee acknowledged that it was a punch and not a poke. A big right hand from Hall dropped Silva just at the end of the round. The fourth frame saw Hall score an early knockdown with a counter right hand as Silva rushed in. Hall pounced right away with fight-ending ground strikes until the referee stepped in to stop the fight.
