The upcoming UFC Vegas 13 ESPN+-streamed event — set to go down this Saturday night (Nov. 7, 2020) inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada — has lost a fight. Per a report from Globo, Felipe Colares has been forced out of his fight against Gustavo Lopez after testing positive for COVID-19.
Corales — who is just 1-2 so far in his Octagon career — issued a statement to Globo explaining his withdrawal.
“Unfortunately, I was very well trained. I was in the best physical and mental shape of my career. The whole world is going through this problem,” said Colares (transcribed by Bloody Elbow).
“God’s plans are bigger than mine. I understand and trust (God). Gustavo will have to wait a little longer and we will soon meet.”
Colares — who competes in the Bantamweight division — was last seen losing to Montel Jackson this past January, bringing his overall record to 9-2. No word if UFC matchmakers are on the hunt for a fighter willing to take the bout on less than a week’s notice, or if they plan yo reschedule this fight later this year.
UFC Vegas 13 will be headlined by a pivotal Light Heavyweight showdown, as Glover Teixeira and Thiago Santos finally get to throw down after their fight was cancelled two times prior after they each tested positive for the coronavirus.
