Former UFC champ Rafael dos Anjos faces Paul Felder at UFC Vegas 14
It’s easy to raise an eyebrow after a quick glance at the win-loss record of Rafael dos Anjos. The former UFC lightweight champion and welterweight title challenger enters Saturday’s UFC Vegas 14 fight card on a run 1-4 run. He is 4-6 in his past 10 fights. But that record is incredibly misleading if you look at the status of the fighters the UFC has matched dos Anjos against.
Dos Anjos meets Paul Felder in the lightweight main event of UFC Vegas 14.
Since August 2013, the UFC matchmakers have booked Dos Anjos against a who’s who of top-notched competitors in the UFC’s lightweight and welterweight divisions. That run began with a win against Donald Cerrone, who went on an eight-fight winning streak after his decision loss to Dos Anjos and ended in January with a welterweight loss to Michael Chiesa, who is 3-0 since he moved to welterweight.
Dos Anjos is the type of fighter that fans and the UFC should appreciate more. He is the definition of a competitor who always wants to give himself the biggest and toughest test he can get.
On Saturday, he plans on showing that. Dos Anjos, at 36, is dropping back to lightweight to make another run at the 155-pound title against Felder, who is the No. 7 ranked competitor in the official UFC lightweight rankings.
Felder vs. Dos Anjos takes place at UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Here is where Dos Anjos stands in the UFC all-time lightweight and welterweight record books.
