This Saturday’s, February 6th. Fight Night event, broadcast from the APEX Fight Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, showcased a Heavyweight tilt between Alistair ‘The Demolition Man’ Overeem and Alexander ‘Drago’ Volkov. Overeem ranked #5 in the division with a 47-18 record and Volkov at #6 with a 32-8 record hadn’t fought one another prior to tonight. In our co-main event, we had fight veteran, #3 ranked, Frankie ‘The Answer’ Edgar and up-and-comer, #5 ranked, Cory ‘The Sandman’ Sandhagen, which was anticipated to be a wicked good bout, end in a mere 28 seconds into Round 1, thanks to a flying knee from The Sandman, that is a strong contender for KOTY.
Also on the card, we had an exciting women’s Flyweight upset that occured between the Liverpool sensation, Ms. Molly ‘Meatball’ McCann and Brazilian brawler Lara Procópio. Both ladies were coming at this off a loss; Molly having been defeated by Talia Santos back in July, 2020, while Lara was handed her defeat from Karol Rosa all the way back in late August of 2019… that’s some ring rust time there, but it didn’t affect her ability to take the ‘W’ tonight. Our featured prelim was between lightweights Mike Rodriguez and Danilo Marques, ending in a sub by the odds favored Danilo; which was all preceded by a fully-packed undercard, which started off the event with a 26-second knock out in our opening prelim between Ode Osbourne and Jerome Rivera. Join us to discuss all the action…
Rounding things out, bonuses for putting forth POTN efforts went to Alexander Volkov and Corey Sandhagen, and FOTN honors went to Beniel Dariush vs. Carlos Diego Ferreira. Overall, the now dwindled down twelve-bout card saw two instantaneous finishes in Round 1, one submission, a total of four exciting KO/TKOs (including the Main and Co-Main), with a whopping total of seven decisions-1 split… what a night of fights we have to discuss with you!
