UFC headliner Kelvin Gastelum had some trouble on the scales ahead of this weekend’s UFC Vegas 34 bout with Jared Cannonier.
The UFC is back in the APEX this weekend with a card headlined by two middleweights looking to go on a run and get into title contention, Kelvin Gastelum and Jared Cannonier.
Gastelum and Cannonier share something in common, they are both coming off bruising decision losses to Robert Whittaker. Cannonier fell to Whittaker at UFC 254 last October. Gastelum lost to the Aussie this April in a Fight of the Night.
The co-main for this one is Clay Guida vs. Mark O. Madsen. Also on the main card is a flyweight battle between Alexandre Pantoja and Brandon Royval.
The prelims are headlined by Austin Lingo and Luis Saldana. There’s also an appearance from Brian Kelleher, he takes on Domingo Pilarte.
The weigh-ins for this one saw two fighters struggle on the scale. Saidyokub Kakhramonov missed the bantamweight limit by a couple of pounds. And headliner Kelvin Gastelum needed the box of shame for his first attempt to weigh-in. Despite being skyclad, he still weighed .25 lbs over the middleweight limit.
He was given an extra hour to make weight and was able to hit the mark within that time limit.
