Zane Simon & Eddie Mercado are here to breakdown the UFC VEGAS 5: ‘Brunson vs. Shahbazyan’ #UFCAPEX event, with hot takes, possible next fights, as well as reactions to the overall event in the player above or on our Bloody Elbow Presents YouTube Channel and BE Presents Podcast Network.

This Saturday’s, August 1st., UFC Fight Night: ‘Brunson vs. Shahbazyan’ event, broadcast from the APEX Fight Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, showcased a heavily altered card, featuring an exciting three-round middleweight fight between the more experienced Derek Brunson and the undefeated youngster, 22 year old, Edmen ‘The Golden Boy’ Shahbazyan. Our co-main event showcased a flyweight brawl between the Scottish former Invicta Champion, Joanne ‘JoJo the Bad MoFo’ Calderwood, with her muay thai style & the contender being the Brazilian kickboxer & submission artist, Jennifer Maia – JoJo was looking to fight for the title against Shevchenko, if she got the W tonight (after that bout was delayed due to injury back in June) – that just isn’t gonna happen anytime soon, as Maia dashed those dreams with a swift submission win via armbar in just 4:29 of Round 1, what a shocking upset!

Also on the card, we had a highly-anticipated main card bout between welterweights Vicente ‘The Silent Assassin’ Luque and Randy ‘Rude Boy’ Brown, which was over by 4:56 of the 2nd round via KO/TKO – Knee & Punches by Luque; that bout was preceded by a FOTN brawl that went to the judges scorecards, which took place between the unanimous winner, Bobby ‘King’ Green and ‘Groovy’ Lando Vannata; rounding things out we were treated to two POTN efforts put forth by Vicente Luque and Jennifer Maia. The prelims kicked off the night with the first unanimous draw in UFC history without point deductions when Chris Gutierrez and Cody Durden went the distance. Overall, the brief eight bout card saw three KO/TKOs, one swift submission and four decisions, including a unanimous draw…. what a fun night of fights we have to discuss with you!
