After stunning victories at UFC Vegas 8 two fighters might be forced to sit out until next year.
At UFC Vegas 8 a number of fighters impressed with quick and slick submission victories. Mallory Martin, Polyana Viana, Alex Caceres and Sean Brady all got finishes, with Martin and Brady scooping POTN bonuses for their efforts.
However, Martin and Viana’s victories may have come at a cost. According to the medical suspensions, determined by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, and released by The Underground forum both those fighters require x-rays to check for potentially serious injuries.
Here’s the full list of medical suspensions:
Anthony Smith (defeated by Aleksandar Rakic via unanimous decision) suspended until 10/14/20, No contact until 09/29/20.
Neil Magny (defeated Robbie Lawler via unanimous decision) must have cut on right elbow cleared by doctor or no contest until 10/14/20, minimum suspension no contest until 09/11/20.
Robbie Lawler suspended until 10/14/20. No contact until 09/29/20 – nasal laceration.
Ji Yeon Kim (defeated by Alexa Grasso via unanimous decision) must have right orbital non-displaced fracture cleared by OMF doctor, or ophthalmologist or no contest until 02/26/21; minimum suspension, no contest until 10/14/20, no contact until 09/29/20.
Ricardo Lamas (defeated Bill Algeo via unanimous decision) suspended until 09/29/20. No contact until 09/20/20.
Impa Kasanganay (defeated Maki Pitolo via unanimous decision) must have right eye laceration with doctor or no contest until 10/14/20, minimum suspension, no contest until 09/11/20.
Maki Pitolo suspended until 10/14/20. No contact until 09/29/20 – facial lacerations.
Alessio Di Chirico (defeated by Zak Cummings via unanimous decision) suspended until 10/14/20. No contact until 09/29/20.
Christian Aguilera (defeated by Sean Brady via submission) suspended until 10/14/20. No contact until 09/29/20 – right eyebrow and nose lacerations.
Polyana Viana (defeated Emily Whitmire via submission) must have MRI of right thumb and x-ray of right foot if positive then must have orthopedic Dr clearance or no contest until 02/26/21; minimum suspension, no contest until 09/29/20, no contact until 09/20/20.
Emily Whitmire suspended until 09/29/20. No contact until 09/29/20 – left elbow pain.
Mallory Martin (defeated Hannah Cifers via submission) must have MRI of right knee, if positive then must have orthopedic doctor clearance or no contest until 02/26/21; minimum suspension no contest until 10/29/20, no contact until 10/14/20.
Hannah Cifers must have nose cut cleared by doctor or no contest until 10/14/20; minimum suspension no contest until 09/29/20, no contact until 09/20/20.
