Check out the betting odds for tonight’s UFC VEGAS 9 card, where Alistair Overeem is slightly favored over Augusto Sakai in the main event, plus Zelim Imadaev vs. Michel Pereira is a pick’em fight.
It’s fight day! UFC Vegas 9 goes down tonight (September 5th) from the UFC’s APEX facility in Las Vegas, Nevada. The top of the billing will take place in the heavyweight division when the seemingly timeless Alistair Overeem meets a streaking up and comer in Augusto Sakai. The co-main event of the evening is slated for a tightly contested light heavyweight tilt between Ovince St. Preux and Alonzo Menifield, and then before that there’s a pick’em bout between welterweights Zelim Imadaev and Michel Pereira. Bloody Elbow is here to hook it up with the betting lines for the entire UFC Vegas 9 program.
With the heavyweight division being the eternal vacuum that it is, the oddsmakers are favoring experience over exuberance in the main event. The 40-year-old Overeem holds a -165 moneyline to the 29-year old Sakai’s underdog tag of +155. Sakai already holds wins over names like Andrei Arlovski and Blagoy Ivanov, but that’s about it in terms of besting top competition. Overeem has already fought just about everyone there is, with a couple of exceptions and a few rematches sprinkled in there somewhere. Before even contemplating a wager on this fight, it’s important to keep in mind that this is heavyweight, Sakai has never fought for five-rounds, and Overeem is the personification of a glass cannon.
The over/under for this 25-minute affair has ben set at 1.5 rounds. The ‘Over’ option owns the favored role here, sporting a -197 moneyline to the ‘Under’s’ underdog value of +174. The bookies see this one lasting longer than a round-and-a-half, but will not be needing all 25-minutes to determine a winner. The prop bet ‘Fight doesn’t go to decision’ is a strongly favored wager with a costly betting line of -260. Going back the other way, the exotic option ‘Fight goes to decision’ can be had for a thick underdog assessment of +200.
Let’s take a gander at the two tossup scraps on the UFC Vegas 9 main card. In the co-main event, the 9-1 Alonzo Menifield is slightly favored over UFC mainstay Ovince St. Preux. Menifield can be acquired straight up for a slight cost of -125, with OSP holding on to a slim underdog tick of +105. Before that, the welterweight division is getting a pick’em bout between the no-nonsense Zelim Imadaev and the backflipping circus act that is Michel Pereira. It’s the acrobatic Pereira that is the only one here that can be strictly found with a minus line. He can be scooped up anywhere from as high as -130 to as low as -114. Imadaev is currently offered up at an array of betting lines, depending on where you look. He can be picked up anywhere from -113 and all the way up to +110. If this is your play, then it might be wise to shop around.
