Veteran heavyweight Dave “Pee-Wee” Herman was arrested early Tuesday morning on felony charges after leading officers of the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department on a police chase in Indiana.
Herman, 30, faces three felony charges after being spotted speeding down the highway with no taillights or headlights on by officers at approximately 1:13 a.m., then leading officers on a three-mile pursuit before stopping at a gas station and approaching officers “in an aggressive manner.”
Herman was subsequently tased and taken into custody after failing to comply with “multiple warnings to get on the ground.”
The charges levied against him include three felonies: resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, battery against law enforcement, neglect of a dependent; along with a Class A misdemeanor, resisting law enforcement. According to police reports, an infant and adult female were also found inside the vehicle. No individuals were harmed during the chase.
Herman (22-6) has fought for a myriad of mixed martial arts organizations over his 10-year career, including the UFC, Bellator, and most recently Titan FC. Herman scored a rarely seen omoplata finish over Michal Kita in 2010 at Bellator 31, then defeated John-Olav Einemo via second-round TKO the following year in his UFC debut, which garnered ‘Fight of the Night’ honors.
That would ultimately be the end of the road for Herman, however, as “Pee-Wee” suffered first- or second-round defeats in four straight fights to be handed his UFC walking papers. He most recently climbed back into the win column by defeating fellow UFC veteran Kalib Starnes via unanimous decision in May 2014 at Titan FC 28.
