The first fight is set for the promotion’s 50th show which takes place from Wembley Arena in London.
An interim lightweight title fight has been booked between Norman Parke and Marion Ziolkowski for KSW’s milestone 50th show in London, England on September 14th. The promotion return to Wembley Arena for the first time since October as they look to continue their European expansion outside of Poland.
Mateusz Gamrot is the promotion’s current, undefeated lightweight champion but claims that he is taking a break from MMA to focus on his family life. However, reports from Poland also indicate that he is amid a contract dispute with KSW and is unlikely to return to the cage until that has been resolved. He has been the promotion’s lightweight champion since 2016 and recently picked up his second belt as he successfully dropped down to take the featherweight title.
Parke (27-6-1, 1NC) is currently riding a four fight winning streak after defeating former KSW featherweight champion, Artur Sowinski, at a 163 lbs catchweight in May. He has a long standing rivalry with lightweight champion, Mateusz Gamrot, so will look to secure a trilogy fight if he can pick up the victory later this year. He will also need to prove that he can make the 155 lbs weight limit successfully which he has struggled to do in recent outings.
Ziolkowski (21-7-1, 1NC) has won his last two fights in KSW against Grzegorz Szulakowski and Gracjan Szadzinski by unanimous decision. His only defeat in the promotion came at the hands of former featherweight champion, Kleber ‘Koike’ Erbst, in a fight taken on short notice.
KSW heavyweight champion, Phil De Fries, KSW light heavyweight champion, Tomasz Narkun and middleweight standout, Damian Janikowski, are all expected to feature on the card but their opponents have not yet been announced.
Stay tuned for more fight announcements over the coming weeks.
