It was just a month-and-a-half ago that UFC welterweight Brian ‘2Face’ Foster (15-5) was forced to pull out of his UFC 129 bout against Sean Pierson, due to a brain hemorrhage discovered during a pre-fight medical for the Toronto event. Foster was replaced by Jake Ellenberger who knocked out Pierson in the first round of their prelim bout.
During a pre-fight medical screening an MRI revealed a damaged blood vessel in Foster’s head which was traced back to a sparring session before the medical. He was forced to sit for six weeks and avoid activity that would increase his blood pressure.
Foster posted the news on Twitter (@brianfoster170) on Tuesday after a visit to the doctors office.
– To my fans first!!! Guess who’s back baby?? Haha someone welterweight is in serious trouble:) I’m cleared!!!!!
– I feel great! It’s time for me to truly show the @ufc and the rest of the world that I am a complete fighter! I’m happy to be back!!:)
Foster’s manager Marc Fiore noted that “If the UFC calls him with a fight this weekend he can do it.”
‘2Face’ is currently 3-2 in the UFC and has won his last two fights. He used a guillotine choke to submit Matt Brown at UFC 123 last November, and earned the “Knockout of the Night” bonus after TKOing Forrest Petz at the UFC Fight Night 22 show in Austin, Texas last September.
