Manager to many UFC fighters Malki Kawa recently revealed that the UFC is planning to have Robbie Lawler defend his welterweight title against Tyron Woodley next. In an interview with MMAjunkie, Kawa detailed a conversation he had with UFC officials when trying to negotiate a rematch between Lawler and his fighter Carlos Condit.
“The first thing I did is I called up and said, ‘[Condit] wants a rematch,’,” Kawa said. “And they said, ‘Well, I don’t know if we’re going to do that right now. We’ve got so-and-so who’s been sitting on the sideline forever,’ and they’re talking about Tyron Woodley, ‘So we’re not going to keep Tyron waiting.’”
The Lawler-Woodley fight has yet to be officially announced by the UFC. Woodley is on a two-fight winning streak. Lawler is coming off a victory over Condit at UFC 195.
