Devonte Smith’s sister, Dariene Smith, was shot and killed outside of a Columbus nightclub.
In July UFC fighter Devonte Smith’s younger sister, Dariene Smith, was shot and killed outside of a nightclub in Columbus, OH. Smith was a mother of two children, ages six and two, and was only 23-years-old.
It was initially reported that Smith was shot in the back after a confrontation between two men became violent.
No arrests have been made in this case, despite an abundance of witnesses and video evidence. This week Devonte Smith took to twitter in hopes of changing that.
Smith shared video that shows two men that homicide detectives are eager to identify. The 18-second video includes clear depictions of the young men at the scene of the crime. The video, and Smith’s accompanying tweet, includes contact details for the Columbus Police Department.

Devonte Smith has been with the UFC since appearing on the Contender Series in 2018. Since then he has taken wins over Julian Erosa and Dong Hyun Ma.
Smith’s manager Ed Kapp has set up a gofundme campaign to raise funds to cover Dariene Smith’s funeral service and for financial assistance for her young children. At this time of writing that campaign has raised over $15,000 towards a goal of $25,000.
