UFC’s Thiago Alves back to gym in three weeks after successful brain surgery (Updated)

Former UFC welterweight contender and division standout Thiago Alves can go back to the gym in three weeks, doctors today told the fighter.

Ricardo Liborio, Alves’ trainer at American Top Team, told MMAjunkie.com that Alves successfully underwent surgery today in New York City to
correct an arteriovenous fistula on the left side of his brain.

An arteriovenous fistula occurs when there is an abnormal connection
between an artery and a vein and can be congenital, created by surgery
