Another UFC 203 fight bites the dust.
Following a cryptic tweet from Dana White last night in which he shared a screenshot of Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone offering to fight Dollaway’s opponent, MMA outlets began scrambling to find out what had become of “The Doberman”.
MMAFighting.com has since confirmed that Dollaway is out of his preliminary bout with Brazilian Francimar Barroso at tonight’s (September 10, 2016) event. The fight was scheduled to air on UFC Fight Pass. The Power MMA and Fitness representative made weight at Friday’s weigh-ins.
The initial report did not reveal the injury or its cause, but a second update reveals that Dollaway suffered a back injury while riding an elevator that malfunctioned Friday afternoon.
A variety of problems have plagued UFC 203 and have forced several fighters off the card. This week, Ray Borg pulled out of his fight with Ian “Uncle Creepy” McCall due to illness. Erik Koch was scheduled to meet Drew Dober, but an injury forced Koch to bow out. Dober now meets The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 22 alum Jason Gonzalez, making his official UFC debut. Visa issues prevented Mairbek Taisumov and Damir Hadzovic from participating in their scheduled scraps. Taisumov was slated to meet Nik Lentz at lightweight, and has been replaced by UFC newcomer Michael McBride. Hadzovic’s tussle with Yasuke Kasuya was postponed to October’s UFC Fight Night: Lamas vs. Penn.
