After the raging dumpster fire that was UFC 236, otherwise known as “hiccups,” ESPN+ is now allowing subscribers to order pay-per-view (PPV) events directly through the app. Yes, even the ones who find it too complicated.
If you’re wondering why ESPN didn’t have that feature available for roll out, following a new agreement with UFC that makes an ESPN+ subscription mandatory for all PPV buys, it’s because the landmark deal was put together in record time.
For UFC 236, fight fans had to first order the event on the computer before transferring the stream to a television or corresponding device. You know it’s bad when your own fighters have no idea how to purchase the product.
It will be interesting to see how the app handles the incoming orders for UFC 237, which is set to go down this Sat. night (May 11, 2019) inside Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (see the full fight card here).
We’ll find out in just a few days.
