Husein Kadimagomaev was looking to score an impressive debut earlier today (Sat., Oct. 19, 2024), taking on Zafar Mohsen on the main card of Professional Fighters League’s (PFL” “Battle of the Giants” pay-per-view (PPV) event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Unfortunately for Kadimagomaev — a training partner of Khamzat Chimaev — he ran into a brick wall that pulled off a huge upset as the huge underdog — Kadimagomaev came in as the -1300 favorite — by winning the fight via unanimous decision.

Both men came out aggressive, but Kadimagomaev went to his grappling early. After a fairly close first frame, the two men were at a stalemate in round two, with Kadimagomaev once again trying to take the fight to the ground. To his credit, Mohsen used his judo to reverse a takedown to get top position halfway through the second round, and controlled the fight for the rest of the frame.

In round three, Kadimagomaev was visibly exhausted trying to secure his takedowns. While on the feet, Mohsen — who came in on a three-fight win streak — looked like the superior striker. Once again, Mohsen showed off his great defense and managed to reverse his foes takedown attempts to finish the fight on top.

In the end, Mohsen secured a highly-impressive unanimous decision victory in his PFL debut and improved his overall mixed martial arts (MMA) record to 14-4 by upsetting the highly-touted prospect out of Sweden, who now drops to 11-2.
