Leon Edwards is rolling in his figurative grave as UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman sends a challenge to Nate Diaz.
Leon Edwards and his fanbase are likely throwing a tantrum as UFC Welterweight champion Kamaru Usman calls out Nate Diaz.
Diaz (20-13) made a remark on Tuesday about how Usman (19-1) is expected to fight Colby Covington, who “The Nigerian Nightmare” previously beat at UFC 245 in 2019.
“Who dis guy fighting next? Someone he already KOed,” Diaz wrote with a facepalm emoji.

Usman appears ready to welcome Diaz to the Octagon, telling Diaz to contact UFC Chief Business Officer Hunter Campbell to set it up.
“I see you 209,” Usman wrote. “If you really want this 187 then call your boy Hunter.”

Diaz replied, reminding Usman he was already tied up with the aforementioned Covington rematch.
“You are locked down,” Diaz retorted. “You do what you’re told to do like a good champion.”

Usman fired back, suggesting that until a contract is signed, Diaz was behaving like a keyboard warrior.
“Keyword ‘CHAMPION’ lol. All you guys just internet tough guys nowadays. Like I said if you really want this pressure then holla at your boy hunter”

Diaz is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Edwards at UFC 263 on June 12 at Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona. Despite losing handily, the Stockton native was able to flip the promotional script by nearly stopping Edwards in the closing moments of round five.
Usman most recently defended his UFC Welterweight crown via second-round knockout vs. Jorge Masvidal at UFC 261 on April 24 at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida.
