I can’t tell you what the hell is going on with the UFC 244 pay-per-view (PPV) event, which is scheduled to go down this November inside Madison Square Garden in New York City, and I’m not sure anyone else can, either.
It was supposed to feature the welterweight showdown between Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington, in what marks the “Nigerian Nightmare’s” first title defense since capturing the crown from Tyron Woodley back in March.
Then something happened along the way and the fight fell apart, according to this report, paving the way for “partying” contender, Jorge Masvidal, to throw his name into the hat. But it doesn’t sound like Usman is giving “Gamebred” the time of day.
“That really looks like I’m partying … clown sit down, FOH,” Usman fired back on Twitter. “I want to fight Nov. 2nd at The Garden.”
Why Covington is not the current frontrunner has yet to be established.
Usman originally told the combat sports media that he would be ready to go in a mere six weeks after hernia surgery, but six weeks slowly turned into six months and now … nobody knows if or when the belt will be defended.
