ONE Championship has been taking over the mixed martial arts (MMA) headlines this week and today is no different, as reigning heavyweight champion, Brandon Vera, will make his return to combat sports on Nov. 23 in the Philippines.
That’s where “The Truth” will put his division title on the line against streaking Italian bruiser Mauro Cerilli, in a featured championship bout that headlines the upcoming “Conquest of Champions” event inside Mall of Asia Arena in Manila.
Vera (15-7) is undefeated since crossing over from the ranks of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) back in 2014. That includes three straight first-round knockout wins for the 41 year-old striker, who once alternated between heavyweight and light heavyweight.
As for Cerilli (12-2), the 35 year-old “Hammer” has been doing some finishing of his own, to the tune of four straight stoppages in five wins, dating back to early 2016. This will be his highest-profile contest to date after competing primarily on the European circuit.
Also competing at the upcoming ONE Championship: “Conquest of Champions” fight card is the lightweight showdown pitting hometown hero Eduard Folayang opposite Singapore’s Amir Khan for the vacant 155-pound strap.
