UFC VEGAS 16: “To be honest, I think Jan Blachowicz will clean the mat with Israel Adesanya, especially if he fights the way he did against Dominick Reyes.”
Marvin Vettori thinks Israel Adesanya’s move up to light heavyweight will be short lived, as the Italian mixed martial artist believes Jan Blachowicz will ‘clean the mat’ with ‘The Last Stylebender’ in his LHW debut.
Vettori, who dropped a lackluster split decision to Adesanya at UFC on FOX 29, believes the current middleweight champ will succumb to Blachowicz’ ‘legendary Polish power’ and realize he made a mistake in moving up to light heavyweight.
“I don’t even know if it will happen because I think Glover deserves and should get the title shot. To be honest, I think Jan Blachowicz will clean the mat with Israel Adesanya, especially if he fights the way he did against Dominick Reyes. He is so powerful, that legendary Polish power,” Vettori, who will take on Jack Hermansson later tonight in the UFC Vegas 16 main event, told BJPENN.com in a recent interview. “Blachowicz is up and down sometimes but I think he beats Adesanya. I’m not worried because Adesanya won’t be at light heavyweight for very long. Even if he wins I’ll get the middleweight title shot and if he wants to get it back, he will have to fight me. I’m just focused on my journey and my own fight.”
Vettori, 27, has won three in a row since losing to Adesanya in 2018 and is currently #13 in the UFC middleweight rankings.
