Karl Roberson was all set to face Marvin Vettori last week at the UFC Jacksonville on May 13 in Jacksonville, Florida. But after “Baby K” suffered from complications as a result of his weight cut, the he was ultimately hospitalized and pulled from the event.
The following day, the two Middleweight contenders nearly came to blows in the lobby of the host hotel, as Vettori confronted Roberson for being the cause of yet another failed attempt to stage the bout. Indeed, the bout was scheduled for April but was then shifted a couple more times due to COVID-19.
It’s Khabib vs Ferguson all over again.
Now, the promotion will once attempt to stage the bout once more time as MMA Junkie is reporting that the bout has been rescheduled for an upcoming Fight Night event on June 13, which is tentatively set to go down inside UFC’s APEX facility in Las Vegas, Nevada. After the news surfaces, Vettori took to social media to take a dig at Roberson.
“We back on, let’s see if they can make it to the cage without folding this time,” he wrotne on Twitter.
Roberson is currently riding a two-fight win streak, while Vettori has been on fire for some time now. Indeed, “The Italian Dream” has won three of his last five, with one draw against Omari Akhmedov sandwiched in between, His lone loss during 2017 is a razor-thin split decision loss to current 185-pound champion, Israel Adesanya.
