While former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight champion and ex pound-for-pound great, Anderson Silva, may be close to putting an end to his storied combat career, his son is starting his own path in the hurt business.
Gabriel Silva (20) took part in his first-ever Muay Thai fight this past Saturday (June 15, 2019) at WCK 35 in southern California, and went on to score a second round technical knockout win over his opponent. While the finish wasn’t posted, “The Spider” took to social media to post a clip of the first round.
Naturally, the proud father of five couldn’t hold back his emotions afterward.
“I’m very proud,” Silva wrote as transcribed and translated by MMA Fighting. “I saw a lot of me in you today. I’m happy, and think that the certainty that I can really stop really is closer. Love you, my son. Bad Boys.”
While it isn’t known if Gabriel will follow in his father’s footsteps and compete in mixed martial arts (MMA) as a career moving forward, he’s already off to a fine start in his combat career. Plus, with the bevy of knowledge and experience his legendary father can bestow upon him, it’s easy to say Gabriel will have a leg-up on the competition.
The future is here?
