Yet another frightening scene played out on the scales ahead of UFC Vegas 38.
A UFC weigh-in has seen yet another frightening scene, this time involving Aspen Ladd, who is scheduled to face Macy Chiasson tomorrow night at UFC Vegas 38.
During the official weigh-ins this morning Ladd stepped on the scales hoping to come in under the bantamweight limit of 135 lbs. However, the scales then read 141.5 lbs, which is closer to the featherweight limit than that of bantamweight.
Ladd then stripped down and made a second attempt, while shaking like a leaf and struggling to stand with both hands aloft. Her second attempt came in at 137 lbs, which means she still missed weight for the fight, albeit by just one pound.

It’s not known if Ladd will be cleared to compete. Earlier this year we saw Julija Stoliarenko have similar trouble on the scales and that lead her being pulled from a contest with Julia Avila.
This is not the first time Ladd has struggled to make weight. The 9-1 prospect came in heavy for a fight with Leslie Smith in 2018. Smith refused to take a catchweight bout against Ladd and was soon released from the UFC as a result/punishment.
In 2019 Ladd had difficulty making weight to face Germaine de Randamie, where she shook on the scales before weighing 135 lbs. The California State Athletic Commission allowed Ladd to compete and she lost to de Randamie by 16-second TKO. Ladd then had her batamweight license suspended by CSAC for gaining 18 percent of her weight between weigh-ins and fight day.
Ladd is currently 9-1 as a pro and 4-1 in the UFC. Her last fight was a TKO win over Yana Kunitskaya in December, 2019.
