People are coming down hard on “Bagel Boss Guy,” the pint-size pariah who rose to (cough) “fame” by losing his marbles inside a New York bagel store called “Bagel Boss.” I, however, join him in celebration of the American dream.
After all, one of the great things about our country is that you don’t have to possess any skill or discernible talent to become a celebrity, you just have to know how to draw attention to yourself in the same way a baby would scream to get fed.
Well, “Bagel Boss Guy” — real name Chris Morgan — has been doing plenty of screaming over the past few weeks and not surprisingly, social media keeps feeding him. Yes, I understand I’m part of the problem, but I have bills to pay too.
What does this have to do with mixed martial arts (MMA)?
Morgan is trying to capitalize on his 15 minutes of fame by challenging YouTube personality Logan Paul, who wanted to throw hands inside the Octagon, but was wisely turned away by UFC president, Dana White, who was afraid the digital dingbat would get murdered.
Helping Morgan follow in the footsteps of other illustrious celebrity fighters, like Joey Buttafuoco and Jose Canseco, are UFC veterans Chris Weidman and Al Iaquinta. Maybe they shared a similar experience trying to get hot bagels on a cold morning (it ain’t easy ‘round these parts), or perhaps Morgan paid for a private session with the money he saved on lox.
All joking aside, Morgan recently signed with boxing promoter Damon Feldman and will fight on Sept. 7 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, against an opponent to be named.
UFC tried to get in on the action … then found out the bagel shop tirade also included derogatory comments toward women and subsequently deleted its tweet (now preserved for infinity by the gang at Middle Easy).
‘Murica.
