New footage of Conor McGregor’s arrest last month in Florida has been released.
TMZ Sports obtained and published on Thursday a body-cam video of the former UFC two-division champion getting handcuffed and placed in a police car. McGregor was arrested the morning of March 11 for allegedly smashing and stealing a man’s cell phone outside a Miami hotel.
As seen in the video above, McGregor was seemingly cooperative and quiet when being arrested around 10 a.m. that day.
McGregor was initially facing second-degree and third-degree felony charges of strong-armed robbery and criminal mischief, respectively. McGregor pleaded not guilty to both charges. MMA Fighting’s Marc Raimondi reported earlier this month the charges had been reduced to felony robbery (sudden snatch) and misdemeanor criminal mischief.
McGregor’s plea sounding is scheduled for April 30. If a plea bargain is not reached, the Irishman’s trial will begin May 13.
McGregor was also facing a civil lawsuit from the alleged victim, Ahmed Abdirzak, but Abdirzak dropped the suit earlier this month.
The former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion has not fought since a 155-pound loss to current champ Khabib Nurmagomedov last October at UFC 229. McGregor was briefly linked to a fight against Donald Cerrone in July, but the bout failed to come to fruition.
McGregor suddenly announced his “retirement” in late March, but the UFC superstar seemingly still plans on competing, according to UFC president Dana White. White recently said he plans to meet with McGregor in Florida ahead of UFC Fort Lauderdale later this month.
