Rickey Edwards probably has some regrets after what Jesus Ramos did to him.

That escalated quickly.

18-year-old boxing prospect Jesus Ramos (11-0, 10 KOs) made his United States debut on Saturday’s PBC on FS1 card in California. His opponent Rickey Edwards (12-4, 3 KOs) was his first clear step up in competition, and Ramos gave Edwards his first KO defeat in extremely humorous fashion.

In round three, Ramos threw a right hook that landed and then missed on another right hand. Edwards saw it fit to shake his head no, which would prove to be a “famous last gesture.” Next punch? A left hand from hell that caused Edwards to faceplant. Obviously, Edwards didn’t get up in time.

MMA fans are familiar with this sort of taunting backfiring. Two years ago on an LFA card, Jordan Powell got blasted by current UFC light heavyweight contender Dominick Reyes with a vicious head kick after a head shake. Reyes would get signed by the UFC after this win.

This card was pretty violent, as Alfredo Angulo shocked Peter Quillin as a +1725 underdog in the main event, and Ramos didn’t even have the only faceplant finish on the night. Check out how Chris Colbert vs. Miguel Beltran Jr ended.
