Video: Boxing prospect busts out another ‘Fortnite’ dance after KO

Lightweight prospect Teofimo Lopez shined on ESPN with a spectacular performance vs. William Silva.

At just 20 years old, Honduran-American lightweight (135 lbs) Teofimo Lopez (10-0, 8 KOs) has quickly become one of the most intriguing young talents to watch in the world of boxing.

Named ESPN’s #2 prospect of 2017, Lopez grabbed co-main event honors on Saturday Night’s Top Rank card in New Orleans, Louisiana, as he took on Brazil’s William Silva (25-2, 14 KOs) in a considerable step up in competition, in addition to it being his first ten-rounder. Needless to say, Lopez passed his test with flying colors, knocking Silva down three times before the referee finally called it off in round 6. What ensued was Lopez once again breaking out another “Fortnite” celebration, mimicking the dance of Orange Justice from the popular video game.

In his previous fight, Lopez did the “Take the L” dance after a first-round KO of Vitor Jones Freitas, albeit with a weird punch that looked to have inadvertently caught Freitas behind the head.

Lopez was 170-20 in the amateur ranks, and has been sparring with some of the best in the sport for quite some time, including Olympic gold medalists Guillermo Rigondeaux and Luke Campbell. Silva is by no means a world beater despite what the record may indicate, but Lopez looks ready for better opponents, and for someone who is less than three years into his professional career, he’s shown a promising skill-set that is going to make him a fan favorite.
