What a country! America, I love it!
It was a pretty busy weekend for Fedor Emelianenko.
Not only did he dispose of former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight champion Frank Mir at Bellator 198 (watch it), he also no-sold Chael Sonnen’s in-cage promo about their tournament showdown later this year.
All in a day’s work for the stoic Russian.
Outside of fighting, “The Last Emperor” was tracked down by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), because Emelianenko has ties to Vladimir Putin and at one point, did business with Donald Trump (along with attorney Michael Cohen) under the Affliction banner.
The talks were not a distraction, according to the Stary Oskol native.
The FBI raided Cohen’s office earlier this month for bank fraud and of course, there’s also the big investigation about Russia’s involvement with the presidential election, one that saw Hillary Clinton lose to Trump in a surprising upset.
I’m sure Fedor and his team had a good laugh on the plane ride back to the motherland.
