Video: Chaos erupts after DQ and cheap shot in Andre Dirrell vs. Jose Uzcategui fight on Showtime

The Andre Dirrell vs. Jose Uzcategui fight ended in a wild fashion with a DQ and post-fight brawl – check out the video here.

The Showtime Boxing match-up between Andre Dirrell and Jose Uzcategui ended up being one fans will be talking about for some time – but not for good reasons. The chaos began at the end of round 8, when Jose Uzcategui landed a blatantly late punch after the bell. That punch dropped Dirrell hard, sending him sprawling to the mat. This was the second late punch from Uzcategui, and the referee ruled the fight a disqualification win for Dirrell at the end of the 8th round.

In the aftermath, things became quite heated, culminating in Dirrell’s uncle Leon Lawson Jr. landing a completely unexpected punch on Uzcategui when talking with the fighter’s cornermen and ultimately a large altercation both in the ring and out.

Showtime Boxing has now updated the situation, saying Lawson is currently missing, but police are searching for him and will arrest him, when found. Dirrell’s brother Anthony Dirrell is also under investigation from the police, while Uzcategui is under police protection.
