Conor McGregor was in attendance at Saturday night’s Matchroom Boxing card in Boston, as he supported fellow Irish star Katie Taylor for her title defense.
Former UFC champion Conor McGregor is by no means the only Irish combat sports star.
Saturday night at the TD Garden in Boston, MA saw women’s boxing phenom Katie Taylor (11-0, 5 KOs) defend her WBA and IBF lightweight titles against Cindy Serrano (27-6-3, 10 KOs). The 2012 Olympic gold medalist was bumped to co-main event status, and there were thousands of fans who showed up to support her. Among them? Conor McGregor, of course.
In the video below, you can see McGregor visiting Taylor in her locker room to meet with her prior to the fight and wish her the best.

Taylor prevailed in a one-sided unanimous decision, and she may as well have been the main event, as many fans left before the actual main event between Demetrius Andrade and Walter Kautondokwa for the vacant WBO middleweight title. She is undoubtedly a rising star in the sport and a very skilled fighter whom at this point can headline her own shows in Ireland.
By the way, McGregor was sat not too far behind Paulie Malignaggi, who was on British television commentary duty for Sky Sports. It didn’t appear as if any drama was stirred up, though. He did say that he was going to box both Floyd Mayweather and Malignaggi, though.
