Things got heated between Colby Covington and Kamaru Usman during the ESPN post-fight show.
Fans may love him or hate him, but Colby Covington has so far backed up his incessant smack talk. On Saturday night, “Chaos” defeated former American Top Team training partner Robbie Lawler via a dominant unanimous decision verdict, earning him a title shot against current champion Kamaru Usman.
While the encounter between the two has yet to be set, Covington once again crossed paths with “The Nigerian Nightmare” outside of the Octagon. This time around, the two met at the broadcast booth during the ESPN post-fight show, where Usman was one of the analyst.
Covington remained cordial while being interviewed by Karyn Bryant and Rashad Evans. But once the mic was turned to Usman for questions, things expectedly began to heat up.
Per their usual smack talks in previous encounters, accusations of ducking were thrown around. Also brought up was their near casino brawl in March, showing there clearly is no love lost between the two.
It was quite a big night for Covington, who was congratulated by President Donald Trump himself after his win. Also in attendance were Trump’s sons Eric and Donald Jr., showing their full support for the next welterweight title challenger.
