Cris Cyborg released a video of her backstage confrontation with Dana White regarding a rematch with Amanda Nunes.
Former UFC women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg and UFC president Dana White have been at odds as of late. Their mini-rift stemmed from White’s claims about Cyborg being supposedly not wanting to fight Amanda Nunes in a rematch because she is “afraid to lose.”
Cyborg issued a response to White, calling the company executive a bully, and demanded an apology. The two parties apparently had a backstage confrontation at UFC 240, after Cyborg defeated Felicia Spencer in their co-main event fight.
As seen on the video above (beginning at the 12:38 mark), the two began with a little small talk. A few moments later, Cyborg dove right in and brought up the rematch conversation.
“You know I text you for the rematch. You know this. Stop lying about it,” Cyborg is heard saying (transcript by MMA Fighting). “What you are saying that I don’t want to fight. You know that I want to fight and I’m not scared.”
White respond by denying Cyborg’s lying claims, stating he does want the rematch to happen as well.
“I’m not lying about it,” he said. “I don’t know if you know how it played out with management and whatever but we want to do that fight. I want to do that fight right now. We’ll get it done.”
White did say during the UFC 240 post-fight presser that the rematch between Nunes and Cyborg is the fight he wants to make.
Nunes dethroned Cyborg at UFC 232 in December via first-round stoppage to become the the third fighter in the UFC to simultaneously hold two world titles.
