What is it about UFC fighters that make for such appealing grand theft auto targets?
Perhaps this is indicative of some overall crime trend, but in the last four months, this is the third story of UFC athlete vs. would-be car thief to pop up! Fortunately, the professional fighters remained undefeated, as “Contender Series” veteran and UFC Welterweight Jordan Williams added another victory to the UFC column.
In the surveillance video above, Williams walks into a convenience store moments before a man steps into his car and tries to drive off. However, Williams was able to sprint to the driver’s door and interrupt the process, as well as land some quality knees from the Thai clinch!
“So someone tried to steal my car today,” Williams wrote on Instagram. “If you are wondering why my car was still on its the same reason why he couldn’t drive away, I have a push to start and my car won’t go unless the keys are within 5 ft of it and I have them on me always. Needless to say my lesson was learned and I hope so was his.
“Wish I would of hit him with the trip after the clinch work when I tossed him out of the whip, and finish off with some ground and pound but I’ll settle with getting my car back. Also I know you see the stillness of that fannypack, fannyback game was on point this could be a commercial for them.”
Williams earned his callup to the UFC via a first-round knockout of Gregory Rodrigues on “Contender Series.” Most recently, he came up short to Mickey Gall in his Welterweight debut just a few weeks ago. At the moment, “Bomaye” remains unbooked.
