You know Don Frye vs. Yoshihiro Takayama made the list.
Pride never die, right? Even if the famed Japanese MMA promotion exists primarily as a t-shirt branding and a Fight Pass database for the company that bought it out and put it on the shelf.
But at least all epic (and odd) stuff that went down inside of a Pride ring has been preserved for plenty more generations to gawp at. And recently, on the UFC’s YouTube channel, a video popped up showcasing some of the most raucous and red-blooded action that ever took place under the Pride banner.
Check out the video above for five of the most iconic—and brutal—moments from Pride’s history.
There you’ll see highlights of Nick Diaz vs. Takanori Gomi, Dan Henderson vs. Wanderlei Silva, Quinton Jackson vs. Ricardo Arona and Mirko Cro Cop vs. Dos Caras Jr (Alberto del Rio).
The video also includes the clip that no Pride compilation can do without; Don Frye vs. Yoshihiro Takayama. So check it out, either for the first time or the 100th time, to see two dudes create what should be the dictionary entry for the term ‘throwing leather’.
