See how Jermell Charlo became the king of the junior middleweights.
It is not often you see a jab to the head stop someone, much less a jab to the body. In the PBC on Showtime pay-per-view main event, Jermell Charlo (32-1, 16 KOs) did exactly that to Jeison Rosario (20-2-1, 14 KOs).
Early in round right, with the fight relatively close despite two knockdowns scored earlier in the fight by Charlo, a stiff body shot by the Texan put Rosario down and he was in serious pain. He did not beat the count and it’s a knockout victory that sees Charlo unify the WBA, WBC, and IBF junior middleweight titles. With all due respect to WBO champion Patrick Teixeira, Charlo is effectively the undisputed champion.
Perhaps Rosario never really recovered from the knockdown he suffered in round six, which had him jelly legged after big left hook almost turned him into a tap dancer. It’s a big win for Charlo on a night when his twin brother Jermall also notched a big win by beating Sergiy Derevyanchenko for the WBC middleweight title.
Watch the highlights below. Yes, Showtime is showing highlights of the finish even though it was pay-per-view.
