UFC 241 captured all of the attention this weekend, but RIZIN FF 18 had a shocking main event finish of its own early Sunday in Nagoya, Japan.

Reigning RIZIN and Bellator MMA champion Kyoji Horiguchi (28-3) took on Kai Asakura (13-1), and if I told you the fight lasted just 68 seconds then you’d probably assume Horiguchi took care of business. Well if you did, you were wrong.

Asakura hurt Horiguchi with a counter right hand while backing up, putting Kyoji on wobbly legs. He poured on an onslaught of punches and knees as Horiguchi desperately tried to fight back, but another hard right hand decked Horiguchi for good and out he went. One of the most stunning outcomes of 2019, as Kai Asakura picks up by far the biggest win of his career.

The good news for Horiguchi was that this was a non-title bout, so his RIZIN title is intact. But this was nevertheless a stunning defeat that snaps a thirteen-fight MMA winning streak that extends all the way back to the end of his UFC career. Who could’ve seen that one coming?
