“Thank you to everybody who took the time to wish me well. I’m going to make a full recovery.”

Fans feared the worst when former UFC strawweight Angela Magana slipped into a coma after undergoing emergency surgery to treat cauda equina syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that affects the spinal cord.

Magana, a mother of three, fell into a coma on Tuesday while under anaesthesia at the University Hospital in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and it wasn’t until Friday that the 35-year-old eventually woke up.

Magana, who said she thought she was going to die just moments before her operation, released a video shortly after she woke up to thank everybody for the support.

“Hi guys, I’m awake. I still feel very tired, like I can barely open my eyes. But thank you everybody for thinking about me. I feel like I’m a very rich woman because I have a lot of time. Well, look what happened. I almost lost all my time. But to take time to wish somebody well, what do we with time? We make money. So time’s more valuable than money.

“Thank you to everybody who took the time to wish me well. I’m going to make a full recovery. The problem was just the anesthesia. The disc procedure and the cauda equina stuff was better than they thought, so the surgery was great, it was just the anesthesia. I’m gonna get better and I’ll be fighting again soon. And Combate Americas has been so good to me, thank you,” she said (transcript via MMA Fighting).

Magana added more to her statement a little later, describing how she woke up “trying to punch and kick and MMA everyone.”

“Funny story coming out of my anesthesia. I was screaming, yelling, grabbing, trying to punch & kick and MMA everyone, telling them “you fucked me up, you were the one who fucked me up! I specifically asked for everything to be recorded apparently I flipped when camera came out…”

Magana was released from the UFC after being knocked out by Amanda Cooper last year, which marked ‘Your Majesty’s’ third straight loss in the Octagon.
