Bumped back to an April 23 release date, the production aims to keep anticipation high for the video game adaptation
One month ago, the new Mortal Kombat movie released its first trailer which set viewership records in its first week, so it is safe to say fans are excited about this latest installment in the Mortal Kombat franchise.
This latest trailer ups the ante with interviews and behind-the-scenes footage of the making of the highly anticipated martial arts action flick. Director Simon McQuoid has not skimped on the details. The cinematography has been intricately wrought—fans will likely be impressed by how McQuoid has brought the Mortal Kombat world to life.
Star Josh Lawson, who plays Kano, makes the point in the trailer that the fight scenes are built upon practical effects, promising audiences it’s not “all CG.”
The new trailer also gives a good look at Mileena, played by Sisi Stringer. Some fans reacted negatively to the first trailer’s depiction of Mileena, leading the Mortal Kombat team to release a statement that the effects on her mouth weren’t quite finished. This appears to be a polished product.
Mortal Kombat will be released in theaters and also on HBO on April 23. The movie stars Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero, Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, and Lewis Tan as Cole Young.
