YouTuber turned celebrity boxer Jake Paul spent some time with the UFC’s Jorge Masvidal.
Jake Paul is going to box Ben Askren. I know, I know. There are undoubtedly numerous other fights on the horizon that are more interesting and valuable from a sporting sense, but few will garner as many eye-balls as a match between a wildly popular YouTuber and a former MMA champion.
Paul vs. Askren is due to go down on April 17th on a card presented by Triller. That outfit hosted Paul’s last fight, a demolition of former NBA player Nate Robinson. Also on that card was Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr.
Ahead of his match with Askren Paul spent some time with someone who knows ‘Funky’ more than most: Jorge Masvidal.
Yesterday Paul uploaded a video showing the pair practising a move that is highly unlikely to feature inside the boxing ring. Check it out:
He knocked out my opponent @benaskren in 5 seconds and now will help me do it in less time.. @gamebredfighter is teaching me his secrets… April 17th the fight will last less than 4 seconds and then we coming for @natediaz209 pic.twitter.com/IQWeyqh5oj

With the training video Paul included a taunt that he would finish Askren in just four seconds when they meet.
In his taunt Paul referenced the fact the Masvidal defeated Askren in five seconds when they met at UFC 239 in 2019. ‘Gamebred’ won that fight with a flying knee that took his stock through the roof (only to be squandered later on).
After beating Askren, Masvidal took on Nate Diaz for the ‘BMF’ belt. He won that bout after a doctor stepped in and ruled Diaz out of the contest due to a cut. Last July Masivdal got a short notice welterweight title shot against Kamaru Usman at UFC 251. Usman cruised to a unanimous decision in that one.
