Ouch!
Alex Perez suffered a second round technical knockout loss to Tatsuro Taira at UFC Vegas 93 last night (Sat., June 15, 2024) inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, because of an in-cage injury. Indeed, Perez could no longer continue due to an apparent knee injury in a wild takedown sequence from Taira.

As soon as Taira took Perez’s back, the former UFC Flyweight title challenger screamed in pain and verbally tapped.
MMAmania.com was cageside for the action and captured video of Perez leaving the cage in a stretcher. Check that out below:

UFC officials also confirmed to MMAMania.com that Perez was taken to a local Las Vegas hospital for a CT scan of his leg. At this time, there is no official word of what injury Perez sustained.
He has not posted anything on social media.
Just when it looked like Perez’s horrific string of bad luck was over (he has nine canceled fights since Nov. 2021), this knee injury could really set him back. Also, Taira more than likely snatched Perez’s No. 5 Flyweight ranking.
Nevertheless, Perez is 1-4 in his last five fights, but before his knee injury, he flatlined Mateus Nicolau in April.
