Henry Cejudo defended his UFC flyweight title by knocking out T.J. Dillashaw in just 32-seconds.
In the main event of UFC Brooklyn, Henry Cejudo defended his UFC flyweight title by knocking out T.J. Dillashaw in just 32-seconds.
What was the high point of the fight?
Straight from the opening bell, Cejudo came out very aggressive and after pushing Dillashaw to the ground, he landed a head kick that grazed Dillashaw as he attempted to get back to his feet.
It was a right hand from Cejudo that landed behind the ear of Dillashaw which spelt the beginning of the end for the bantamweight champion. After following up with some ground and pound as Dillashaw got back to his feet, referee Kevin MacDonald stopped the fight and Cejudo was awarded the victory in just 32-seconds.
Where do these two go from here?
This is Dillashaw’s first loss since dropping a split decision to Dominick Cruz in January 2016. The 32-year-old had won four straight fights, including consecutive victories over Cody Garbrandt, before this loss to Cejudo. Although being offered a rematch at 135-pounds by Cejudo, it’s likely the next step for Dillashaw is to return to bantamweight to defend his belt.
Cejudo dedicated the win to the rest of the flyweights on the UFC roster. “The Messenger” extended his winning streak to four with the knockout victory of Dillashaw, last suffering defeat to Joseph Benavidez in December 2016. Depending on the future of the flyweight division, Cejudo may defend his 125-pound belt next, or rematch Dillashaw at bantamweight.
