Even though the referee separated two fighters in a bout in Brazil, they weren’t about to stop fighting.
Sometimes guys just want to fight, and no one is going to stop them. And according to MMA Fighting, that was the case at Imortal FC 9 last night in Brazil.
In the middle of the card, a flyweight bout between Joao Elias and Walter Martins took place. Not far into the first round, the referee separated the fighters and stood them up to check a cut on Elias. He turned his back on them for a second, and Elias just decided to throw another punch. So the two men just started to throw down again.
The ref got between them quickly, but they continued to jostle and a couple of head kicks were thrown. Finally the cornermen of both fighters had to jump into the cage to intervene.
Here’s the video.

Unsurprisingly, the fight was declared a No Contest.
The headliner for this card saw the return of former Pride fighter and Fedor Emelianenko opponent Zuluzinho, who was competing for the first time in almost eight years. He was chewed up by leg kicks though, and couldn’t answer the bell to start the second round.
