UFC commentator Joe Rogan was stunned when massive underdog Henry Corrales stopped Aaron Pico in the first round of the Bellator 214 co-main event on Saturday night.
Joe Rogan is known for his priceless reactions to finishes in MMA, but his reaction to the Bellator 214 co-main event might have topped everything before it.
The UFC color commentator hosted a podcast with former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub, jiu-jitsu promoter Eddie Bravo and comedian Bryan Callen during Bellator 214, which took place Saturday night at The Forum in Inglewood, California.
Rogan jumped out of his seat when Henry Corrales knocked Aaron Pico out in the first round of the co-headliner. Corrales was a major underdog, and Pico, a world-class wrestler, is considered one of MMA’s top prospects. Pico was riding a four-fight winning streak heading into the pivotal featherweight bout.
Schaub posted a clip of the podcast Sunday on his Instagram account. Watch Rogan’s reaction below:
Pico clipped Corrales early in the first round, but ultimately got too aggressive and stayed in the pocket for too long. Pico left himself open for a massive right hand from Corrales (which followed a number of lesser shots in the clinch), which put the 22-year-old out cold.
With the victory, Corrales has now won five straight, three of which by stoppage. Corrales may be next in line for a title shot against champion Patricio “Pitbull” Freire, who handed Corrales his most recent loss in 2016.
