Manhattan is the city that never sleeps. “T-City,” however, appears to have a curfew of around 8 p.m. (or earlier).
That’s according to “savage” UFC featherweight Jeremy Stephens, who is looking to improve his position in the 145-pound rankings — at the expense of Brian Ortega — after smashing and trashing DooHo Choi in the UFC Fight Night 124 main event last Sunday in St. Louis.
From his conversation with UFC on FOX.
“He says he would like to sit and wait for a title, which is real typical, guys like to sit and wait on their ass, be lazy… Guys like to just sit there and get money fights and sit around. Like, let’s fight bro, I’m healthy, I could fight him right now. I’m a human highlight reel, my knockouts are too hot for TV, they barely play ‘em. The only time they play my highlight reel is right before I come out and fight. You don’t see it on FOX, it’s just too scary. I just made more money in 15 minutes than he does in 15 months. I don’t hit bunts, I hit home runs.”
Ortega is ranked No. 3 against No. 9 for Stephens (see the current list here).
Turning away the “Korean Superboy” in St. Louis was the second straight win for “Lil’ Heathen” (27-14), who also bested former Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez back in September.
While Ortega is expected to be in the title conversation, it’s not yet known where Stephens will end up after his big win in “Gateway City.”
