Former kickboxing superstar Tyrone Spong continues to leave people unconscious, this time in the boxing ring.
Even though he may be done with kickboxing for now, Tyrone Spong continues his campaign of separating people from their consciousness.
After breaking his leg against Turkish powerhouse Gokhan Saki at Glory 15 in April of 2014, he worked on rehabilitating his leg and later announced he would be retiring from kickboxing and would commit to a career in professional boxing.
At a boxing event yesterday in Aguascalientes, Mexico, Spong took on (then) 3-0 heavyweight Hugo León and put him to sleep with a right hand in the third round. Here’s the video of the finish, courtesy of ZombieProphet:

With this win, Spong improves to 6-0 on the international boxing circuit against an opponent of comparable boxing experience, but not a total combat sports experience. The infrastructure of boxing when it comes to a contender moving up the ranks is quite different from MMA, though – meaning his opposition have been something of a mixed bag. Spong has wins over the 1-5 Lucas Queen, 15-3 David Gogishvili, 10-8 Emre Altintas, and 7-39-6 (!!!) Gabor Farkas.
The 31-year-old Spong has not returned to MMA since defeating Angel De Anda at WSOF 4 in August of 2013, but was scheduled to fight Jake Heun at WSOF 26 last December. Spong was unable to fight due to a sprained MCL.
