Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) flyweight title contender John Moraga closed the book on his mixed martial arts (MMA) career back in summer 2018 in the wake of his technical knockout loss to current 125-pound kingpin Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC Lincoln.

In the months that followed, “Chicano John” made his return to the “sweet science” following a lone appearance in early 2012, And while things got off to a good start, thanks to a second-round finish over Brandon Foss in Oct. 2019, it’s been all downhill from there.

Moraga, 36, was floored in just seven seconds by pugilistic wunderkind Marc Castro on last weekend’s “Canelo vs. Yildirim” card at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Fla., en route to a technical knockout loss in the second stanza.

His boxing record now stands at 1-3, though it should be noted his prior two losses came by way of unanimous decision, so it’s not like he’s been getting hammered in each fight. In addition, Moraga has always been a gamer, so expect this defeat to serve as nothing but a temporary setback.
